Theoretical bench-marks prepared after the study of the interrelations between the hosts of different species of parasites. In this paper the Theory of parasitical processes is extensively described. The author has worked many years both in the field and in different laboratories, using several research methods, including the ethological observation.

THE O3/GAC SYSTEMS USED FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE RECIRCULATED WATERS FROM SWIMMING POOLS

The modern concept that approaches the degradation of organic substances in the water and the disinfection takes into account the employment of innovative processes, without adding chemical reactives and integrating them in the newly developed technological flows of decontamination. This is the context in which the need for developing new, unselective physical and chemical processes of degradation and mineralization appeared (for organic substances), also for the disinfection. These highly efficient processes are the so-called processes of advanced oxidation (AOP- Advanced Oxidation Processes). These processes lead to the oxidative, unselective and energetic degradation of organic and anorganic substances, especially in the presence of highly reactive OHo  radicals, without requiring other coupling reactions and registering degradation rates of 106 ÷ 109 mol/L∙s. Experimental studies of catalytic ozonation processes were carried starting from the last decade of last century, especially using granular activated carbon (GAC) as catalyst environment for the catalytic ozonation processes. This  paper presents the numerical modelling, by physical point of view, and the implementation of an  environmentally friendly system for treating the swimming pools waters by under pressure O3/GAC advanced oxidation processes, followed by filtration, with an aim to enhance the disinfection efficiency, the degradation of organics,  the recirculation degree and to avoid the formation of harmful secondary products.

Currently due to the numerous problems caused by synthetic plastics waste and their degradation in the environment, there is a growing interest for the production of biodegradable plastics. A biodegradable material for packaging applications, made from renewable resources such as poly(hydroxybutirate) is being developed. This paper presents some studies that have been conducted on the mechanical properties and the biodegradability of experimental samples from poly(hydroxybutyrate) obtained by bacterial fermentation and mixtures thereof. The effects of biodegradation on certain characteristics of the two biodegradable compounds based on polyhydroxybutirate and hydrophylic polymers have been studied. The biodegradability of polyhydroxybutirate blends were evaluated in natural conditions. These data are useful for the biodegradability prediction of packaging under normal conditions.

The paper starts from the premise that the stakeholders regarding environmental issues in Romania do not extensively use Internet tools for environmental communication. The paper highlights that the Internet provides numerous benefits for communication of environmental Information and thus contributes to a better conceptualization and operationalization of the Internet as an efficient complementary solution to conventional environmental communication. The discussion reveals the authors’ belief that using the Internet effectively, as a public information medium, in regards to environmental issues, requires a good understanding of its marketing and communications potential. The paper exemplifies some concrete ways to use the Internet for research, communications and information dissemination in regards to environmental issues. As a result, the authors’ approach can represent a fresh perspective on the online environmental communication techniques and strategies, which might be of interest to students, researchers, NGOs, production companies and local or central authorities that deal with environmental issues etc.

Although the toxic effects of lead have been known for over 2000 years, the general public in Romania is insufficiently aware of the effect of lead used by hunters on wild ducks and other birds. As such, any civil society initiative to inform a large number of persons on this subject, by environmental communication means, would be welcome. The main objective of the paper is to present a practical tool that can be useful in raising the public awareness in regards to the negative impacts of heavy metals on living organisms. The paper reviews the main steps needed to be taken in designing and implementing an effective mass communication plan that would warn the Romanian society about the negative impact of the hunters’ lead on wild ducks and other birds. The discussion starts from setting the communication objectives and identifying the stakeholders, it continues with the elaboration of the action plan in agreement with the findings of the existing situation analysis and leads to determining the appropriate way to approach the target audience, depending on the characteristics of the audience.

In the present paper some aspects concerning the alien fish from North America introduced in Romanian ichthyofauna are discussed. For each species we discussed in detail its occurence in our country, briefly the species biology, importance and possible impact on native fish species. The author did not took into consideration numerous species, subspecies, varieties of exotic fishes kept in aquariums in ornamental purposes.

The emissions of greenhouse gases represent one of the main causes of the process of global warming. The research and the academic didactic activity in the technical field must become real centers of development and of implementation of initiatives for the reduction of the emissions of GHG. In this paper is presented the modality of evaluation of the emissions of greenhouse gases which come from the activity of research and of academic didactics at the laboratories center of the Department of Engineering and Management of the Technological Systems, Drobeta Turnu Severin, in accordance to the ISO 14064-1:2012 Standard greenhouse gases – Part 1.
